I am about to buy a new car and my boyfriend is the co signer. they have the loan set up as his name or mine. Is there anywhere online that I can get a form for him to sign, agreeing that this car is mine, that I make the payments? I feel nervous doing this without having a contract to keep him from taking the car if we were to ever break up... or can someone help me type one up?

Really, all you need to do is make sure the vehicle is registered in only you and loan companies name. |

The name(s) on the loan for a car has nothing to do with ownership. Ownership is determined by the names on the title. You can be listed as the owner and your boyfriend could merely "co-sign" the loan with you. co-signing on a loan, does not necessarily make the co-signer an owner |

If you are worried about ownership after a possible break up, get him to be the co-signer, that way he has all the financial responsibility, should you default, but has no ownership rights whatsoever.
The loan is in your name, you will be the registered owner. A co signer only comes into the picture if you start missing payments. |
