How to retry for cdl - A, after failing drug test?

What if any steps can be taking to retry for a CDL - A if the pre-enrollment drug test came back positive? It's been 1 1/2 years since going to truck driver school. I called them to ask when can I return & the said 10 years. I've called other schools & some say 5, another said never since it is a permenent mark on my DOT history. But what I dont understand is I had no problem receiving my renewal for DOT physical a few months ago.

As I understand your question you are trying to go to a truck driving school to get a CDL, but you failed their pre screening drug test. You want to know how to get back into a truck driving school.

If you still have a drug problem, don't bother. If you can test clean just apply at a different school, and NEVER mention anything about the first school.

Be on notice: If drugs are still a part of your world, you will quickly get fired from any trucking company that hires you. A "positive" on a drug screen is grounds for immediate termination at every trucking company. If you can't leave the "stuff" alone, go into a different line of work.

I always thought you were pretty much screwed after you fail a drug test...much like a DUI. Maby it is just in my state.

the physical is just a dr visit, not the ability to drive a HUGE vehicle on public roads...

a physical dosent have much do do with the drug test its best to go to dmv and get a print out of your driving record. If you have ever been locked up for drugs its a 10 year weight if you just faild a test it depends on what you failed it for with any type uper its susposed to be a ten year weight. You might be able to get some randomes done if it was just pot a good friend of mine is going through this now he has 6 randomes to do in 12 months 2 na classes and he is off the hook. the best way to pass a drug test is to not do drugs

Sorry, once an applicant flunks,no one is under any obligation to allow a retest.
So,it is up to the indivudual company.
Alll I can say is,keep trying, but expect nothing.
A DOT Physcial and drug testing are two different things. Whileyou may have passed thephysiocal,you still have that other issue hanging over your head.

dot physical and cdl are two different things. They allow you to drive different classes of trucks. I dont know the law on it but you need to contact usdot for the answer. I just found out that if you get a dui not only do you loose your cdl lic you loose your class d as well.....

Go to a different company to work for . I have worked commercial for 32 plus years . The only time I know of this becoming a permanent mark against you out side of where you applied at is if you are involved in a accident which under DOT Regulations a Drug / achol can be required within 48 -72 hours after a accident .

get a clean drug test and take it again.
