Find answers to your legal question.

I'll be 18 in September. I'm in Driver's Ed right now. Is it cheaper to skip D.E. and just get my license?

I have Test Anxiety so i find my Online Driver's Education course very difficult. I've been working on it for over a year now. I've had my permit for a year and a half (yes i renewed it). Will insurance be any more expensive just to forget about D.E. and get my license when i turn 18?

Couldn't you get your license regardless if you are still enrolled in driver's ed? It will be more expensive, but not sure how much. You can also get a discount with some insurance companies for having good grades. Maybe you could use that to lower you premiums instead of the driver's ed course?

Most states give decent discounts on insurance to DE grads; and in some states you need a DE pass to take a driving test.

Finish it; test anxiety will be good prep for the real test

well im in Drivers Ed now.
I think its better to take drivers ed because u learn ALOT of tricks you can do while taking ur drivin test and everything.

bic
it's cheaper to take the class. you'll get help on insurance.

If you can't handle taking an online test, how do you expect to handle the rigors of driving?

I really think you NEED drivers ed.

Yes it's cheaper I did that, I didn't have much coaching though so I was worried when I took my test but it was easy (I was 17)
I don't regret not going, but my insurance prob would have been cheaper. (but if you had your permit I'm sure you'd be fine. Call the insurance place and get a quote (check the phonebook if you're not sure where you'd like to get it from) A broker is the cheapest.

Your insurance will be higher without the DE course. Call your insurance agent and find out how much more.

Usually it might be cheaper in the short term to skip DE, but in the long run it helps you out as usually (I know it is where I live) your insurance will be cheaper if you go through DE, which helps you in the end. It might change location to location, and since I do not know where you live, I recomment that you look into your insurance.

I think of a young age like you, youll probably get a high cxar insurance rate, because it is one of the factors that car isurance determine their insurance premium. But you could still find a lot of car insurance companies that offering a much cheaper car insurance for you. Try to quote online or visit this cheap car insurance site http://www.nightbirdssolutions.com compare different prices here and evaluate the company that could give a much cheaper insurance payments.

Finish the DE class. Even an online class gives you more info on being a safer driver than those who don't. Insurance will be cheaper also and most apply until age 25. Some States now require DE classes to get a license and some are debating adding a Defensive Driving course also.

You will probably save up to $300 per year by passing driver's training, so it is worth it to complete. For more information on how to lower your premium, visit http://www.auto-insurance-knowledge.com/online-insurance-rates.html but drivers training is one easy way to do it.

You already paid for DE so you mine as well stick with it...It's not that long anyway. Plus you will get a nice rebate off your insurance premium along with other benefits.

The rules are always changing, so ill answer what I know now. It is very beneficial to have driver's ed. In some states it is mandatory. You will have also maybe credits with your insurance co.
Good luck. bettyk

Well, i just finished driver's ed a few weeks ago.
Even though it was long and boring, i learned a lot and i feel much more confident in my driving.
I honestly think you should finish the course.
But it is online so i don't know how good it is. Do you get any driving time in this curriculum?
Honeslty, i would not feel safe driving on the road knowing there are people who never took driver's ed and just got their license.
I guess it depends on your state too.
In my state you can get a restricted license if you never took driver's ed, and then you have to take the written test and the driving test. However, if you took driver's ed, then it just depends on your birthday.
Do more research with your local DOT.

If you are not paying out of pocket for Drivers Ed., then I'll continue to take it. It'll help you out. Or you could go to a really good friend or family member whom you feel safe with and practice. I would suggest that you go and pick up a drivers handbook and study it and the test questions in it, it'll also help you out. Don't drink and drive, and Good Luck!!!!

If you have your permit, wouldn't you have had to take driver's ed. before hand?

I'm in a similar boat. I am 17 and have not yet taken D.E, but I don't have to when I turn 18. A simple test is enough to get you a license if you are 18, otherwise it's not worth the effort.
