If your Father is happy to include you as a 'named driver' the premium (in UK) would be far lower than if you obtained your own..
Don't let your Dad down.
Remember, the story starts here and even at 66 years of age, I still treat every other driver as my equal but realise I will never be right all the time. |

There are some insurance policies out now which allow a named driver on another person's insurance to accumulate no claims discount. If I were a new young driver I would certainly be looking into this option. Congratulations on passing your driving test. (U.K.) |

Congratulations!! When my children were able to drive, I was able to insure them through State Farm at a reasonable rate. A lot of insurance companies would not even insure them. If this option doesn't work, try being added as an additional drive in the household. It is expensive but well worth it. |

well done on passing, i passed at 18 and went straight onto my own insurance policy. Simply so i can build up my own no claims bonus. I also did my pass plus of which gave me about £100 off my insurance as well as extra driving skills/lessons. Godd luck and happy driving! |

Some (UK)Insurance companys will allow a named driver to build up a no claims bonus. This may be your best opion stay on Dad's Insurance for a while and then go it alone later,May even be able to have a multi car deal a little further down the line! |

congrats!! it may cost a fortune to start but you can at least have the chance to build up no claims bonuses if you dont crash! go on to moneysupermarket and check insurance prices. if your dad has you on his insurance make sure he has protected no claims as if you crash he will lose them if they are not protected!! |

Your dad will need to add you to his policy for one or more of his cars, or put you on as an exclusion from driving any or some of the cars. You are still a minor, therefore there is no other option. |

You need to get your name on a policy so that you can build up your no claims bonus's. It may be expensive but it's not going to get any cheaper waiting. |

Well done. I suggest you get insured as a named driver on his policy. Safe travels... don't speed... have fun. |

Your dad will have to get you covered under his policy as an "Additional insured". Congrats on passing your test. Drive Safely! |

You should ask his agent. Insurance agents are usually pretty good about making sure you're paying as little as possible. They get paid based on the number of services you have, not how much you pay, so if they can get you to pay less for what you have, maybe you'll add on more services... |

When I get my license I think my family decided that we are going to put it up my mom's policy.I just got my temps today though. If your dad doesn't mind, I think it would be the better way to go. |
