does it matter if my license still says UNDER 21 on it when I buy alcohol? does it really matter? I'll get it changed tomorrow morning if I have to, but just wondering.

I don't live in a state that issues "under 21" licenses, but even so...your drivers license has your birthdate on it. That's what they will be looking for!

No, it doesn't matter. If it says UNDER 21, they just look at the birthdate to see if you've turned 21 since the license was printed. Happy birthday. |

In NY, they should automatically send you a new one, but in the meantime it will be fine. They only look at your DOB. |

first thing is usually a couple weeks before your turn 21 the DMV of your area usually sends you something in the mail to let u know that it's going to expire soon usually on your 21st birthday. and they may ask you for an updated picture of yourself, and usually by the time you do turn 21 you receive a new license. Secondly not sure where you live but most places they can scan your License to see what age you are, even though theres a birthday on it they scan it to make sure its real. Good Luck |

So long as the license has your date of birth on it then you shouldn't need to since most clerks will look at the year you were born. If you encounter problems then you'll probably need to change it. Happy Birthday. |

not in my state. do you have an american license? mine never said over or under 21, but it said 21 on date xxxx. and once its past that date you can buy alcohol. |

Ha, it doesn't matter if it says "under 21 until (this date)". Some states won't look past the "under 21". Like South Dakota. But I'm pretty sure other normal states actually read the date of birth. If it doesn't expire on your 21st birthday, don't get a new one. |
