Your current car insurance should carry over, I mean, if you currently carry insurance on a car. Is this your first car? If this is your first car, just call up the insurance guys and let them know what you want to do, and they should be able to help you. Good luck!

You can drive it without having the actual documents.Phone your insurance company up with all your details.Ask them to start your policy from whatever time you buy the car. That way you will be covered and they will then post out cover note etc.

you have got to be insured no matter what.

In the Uk youd be barking mad to drive anywhere without insurance. Its illegal and youd be in complete shitt if sommething was to happen to you or your car. Insurance can be arranged in minutes over the phone.

You can drive it home but I would not recommend it because you stand alone even with the smallest not your fault accident Some insurance companies will issue a policy of limitted time over the phone.

HULK RULES!!
It all depends on the state u live in.

It is illegal to drive a car any distance for any reason without insurance. Get the details of the car from the current owner, engine size, reg number etc. Agree time to collect car from current owner and get an insurance policy with cover starting from time of collection.

thedigdog
NO YOU CAN NOT DRIVE IT HOME WITHOUT INSURANCE, BUT IF YOU GO TO DAYINSURE.COM YOU CAN GET INSURANCE FOR THIS SORT OF SHORT TERM PROBLEM.

Ryder
you got fully comp insurance? if its taxed and mot's yeah u can but if u aint got full comp dnt even bother

If your insured yourself i think you can drive it but you are not allwoed to get out of the car. ie parking it on the road as it is only insured when you are in it.

No, If the car is not insured. Whether you have insurance does not matter. Any car you drive must be insured.

In this case, call your insurance co. and they will cover you to drive the car home, by giving them the make, model, vin, etc.

If you live in a state that requires insurance...then no, it is not legal. You could tow it home or trailer it home.

If you live in the UK there is a simple answer
NO
There is a wrinkly though if your insurance allows you to drive any car and you take it on a test drive you are covered. If it just so happens that the test drive just happens to finish at your house .
You are a lucky bunny ain't you
Then you phone the previous owner tell him that you are at home and are satisfied with the car and he can keep the deposit you left with him. (that coincidentally equal the full purchase price of the vehicle)
How can you be accused of breaking the law. (You were insured while test driving it)

Roy S
If you buy it through e-bay you get free insurance for a short period of time which should be enough for you to get it home.
If you are insured already for another car get the seller to post date the receipt so you do not own the car until you get it home then you can drive on your 'any car not owned by' bit.
Bit dodgy but you asked.

YES , JUST DON'T GET CAUGHT. If you already have a car with insurance you can use that insurance policy to transfer the title. then once you get it home you can call your agent and have it put on or not .but you can't drive it around till you call him or her and have it put on a policy of its own permanently if you plan on using it all the time.

if u have the receipt
then yes
u are only allowed to drive a car twice without insurance
1. if u are taking it for MOT
2. if u just bought it and driving it home only
