they want us in e/port depot at 07:30 ,we officially start at this time in liverpool yard,but they say we HAVE to be in e/port at this time ,and no overtime pay (40 mins drive)

they cant do that your start time is the time you start work.
if you are on tacho then that will be in from liverpool and you should be getting paid.
any problems contact the road haulage association, freight transport association or go to ACAS they will give you your rights |

Drive to Chester in your car and ring Liverpool at 7.30 to let them know you are there.
If they have not organised a wagon to be available then that's their problem.
You have fulfilled their wishes without driving their wagon for nothing. |

Of course you're insured anything you are driving for your employer. As to getting paid, do you have a union representative? See him. |

the answer is yes you are insured but you shouldn't be working unpaid, you could refuse and argue an overtime rate but be careful as these current climes could see you out of a job if there are others willing to do it, if there isn't you bargaining powers are very good |

With respect, If you are daft enough to drive their lorry unpaid, it makes no difference where your depot is, you might as well drive for the Glory, I have done a lot of work in Liverpool over the years & know what the people are like, they will not be P S D about with any haulage comp that would ask them to do that. |

I think you would have problems with this, lots of people dont report to a fixed base or place of employment but would still be required to arrive for start time |

there was at one time a relocation allowance in that your place of work has changed , find the distance in miles from l/pool depot to e/port depot and average travel time then pursue the matter with acas . the wagon should be insured at all times to and from place of work . |
