I failed my driving test but drove beautifully?

I did everything so well and careful. But I went through a yellow light that turned red as I passed it. There was a huge truck in front of me and I could not see. I feel so dumb that stupid people can get a license but I cannot and I am so careful and meticulous. I just keep picturing him telling me "You are not going to be getting your license today but you drove very well"
I just cannot brush this off. When should I do. It was such a nervraking experience and I just cannot go through it again.

Just relax! Chill out and everything will be fine. Most people do not pass their first time so take that into consideration. They live on failing people. It makes them happy lol. Just try again when you're ready. When there's a yellow light STOP. In their language it doesn't mean speed up and make the light. It means STOP unless you are past the point of being able to stop safely. It's best to go through intersections at a significantly reduced speed to make sure you can stop if a yellow light does appear. So try again and this time act as if the dude(t) administering the test isn't there. Relax, do what needs be done and don't be nervous.

I had an old cranky instructor who failed me for going over the speed limit by 2 miles per hour.

Come to find out through a manager friend at the BMV, he fails 70% of his drivers, and he's in the process of being terminated.

I feel like going there and spitting in his face. :)

Anyways... You failed because even though the light was yellow when you entered, you shouldn't have been so close to the truck as to not be able to see the light. It's stupid, I know, because not one cop I know enforces the yellow entrance law but the state does...

If the truck blocked your vision of the light, you may have been following it too closely. But don't worry; my daughter did exactly the same thing on her first test, took it again two weeks, and has been an excellent driver for 17 years.

Frankly, I don't consider failing a drive test "driving beautifully!" You drove like most people out there on the road. Unfortunately, you must drive VERY carefully during the 20 mins. you have an examiner in the car.
Exercise more caution in following large trucks. You must not follow so closely.
As you discovered the hard way, you can NEVER block an intersection.
Always be sure the car/truck in front of you has CLEARED the intersection before entering.
To clarify another answer, entering an intersection on a yellow light is NOT the same as a RED light. It is legal to enter the intersection on yellow, so long as you can CLEAR the intersection.
In fact, when making a left turn at an "unprotected" (yield) light, sometimes it's necessary to wait for a yellow light to complete the left turn. It's a matter of judgment that shows experience or lack thereof.

If you ran a red light (yes, entering an intersection on yellow is considered running a red light) that was a major error and an automatic fail.

Yes, you can go through it again, and you will. Don't beat yourself up over it, you aren't the first (or the last) to not pass the first time out.

Don't brush it off, learn from it, and next time don't enter an intersection unless you can see the lights.
