So I got into an accident, where it was most definitely his fault. I got his insurance info, and we parted ways. Now that he decided he doesn't have enough money to pay me cash up front, I have to go through insurance, except I misplaced the info. I called trying to get it back, but he told me legally he doesn't have to give it to me again. Is this true?
Basically, do I have to eat the cost? It's only 300 dollars, but I still don't really want to pay for it. Please help!
P.S. I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

No what he said is not true. The easiest way to go about this is to a) get it from the police report, or if the police were not called then report the accident to your insurer with the the information you have on the other party ad let your insurer take care of it. They will ask him for his insurance information, and trust me, they are a little less tolerant of BS answers. They'll tell the guy to provide the info and be prepared to reimburse the insurer for their expenses. |
