It is the law in most of the states and it is your responsibility that your vehicle complies to these rules.

Some states require plates on the front and back. Most states have laws about window tint. It is possible to go to a dealership and buy a car that does not have a front plate and have an illegal window tint though. However, it becomes your responsibility to make sure the car is compliant after you purchase it. Sometimes the dealership will try to fix things but sometimes they won't.

Do you live in one of the states that requires a front plate?

The only states allowing and requiring one plate are Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Caroline, Tennessee, and West Virginia, so unless you live in one of them, he had cause to pull you over.

Once he had you stopped, if he found any other problems he certainly had the right to write you a ticket on anything he found. If you had no insurance, you could have been given a "driving without insurance" ticket, or, in your case, if your tint didn't meet the state requirements, you can be ticketed for that.

Of course the tint is only a fix it type ticket, just remove it and that part will go away.

Depends on what state your in... In FL. we don't have to have a front plate but you have to watch the tint. your back windows can be darker than the front.

Well, obviously, in that state tinted windows are illegal. And the license plate is required on the front of your car.

Tint laws vary by state. I live in CA and even though every other car seems to have side tint it is NOT legal here (not any amount of side tint!).
