For whatever stupid reason, New York only assesses demerit points on out-of-state tickets from Ontario and Quebec. However, the state point system is not connected to insurance companypoint systems. You will likely be assessed insurance demerit points on those tickets, and your insurance may, indeed, go up. |

if no points were put on your license then your insurance should not be affected.... |

More than likely it will. It depends on if your insurance company gets a notice on the tickets. |

It depends on your insurance company. As police forces centralize their data, Insurance companies are increasingly able to see multiple state figures.
Hopefully, your insurance company does not. |

yeah. Insurance companies "randomly" check your records to see if you've gotten a ticket. if your a more "high risk" driver they are more likely to "randomly" check you. but you might have good luck and they might not check ya for awhile! |

from what you're saying, probably not. If NY doesn't have reciprocity with the other states then no. your ins co normally only checks your license for tickets and if NY doesn't recognize the other states then the ins co will have no knowledge of the tickets. |

yes it could and is a good chance it will... best just to wait and see what happens... i would not call an ask them ....might save you a little time in them finding out... slow down drive with the traffic man thats the best way not to get a ticket go with the flow |

Your insurance company will get this information and could very well increase your premium. Doesn't matter if NY recognizes the points. All is handled much like credit reporting and actually by the same companies. |

As a resident of Virginia and former insurance industry employee - I can tell you that VA will report to your state. Now whether or not you state applies points to your driving record is up to them. If your insurance company is a national player (GEICO, State Farm, etc.) they will have access to the VA info and may increase your premiums if they see fit. Of course this will depend on your NY state laws since insurance is regulated at a state level.
Good luck! |

Those tickets will go under your driving record, and it only takes a matter of time for your premium to go up. |
