sorry it was the back left corner just below the rear lights. its mostly on the side and a hint of the corner

I live in the UK and i scratched the back of a Ford Van connect on the corner. it took some paint and made a slight dent. its about 3 fingers wide and long. I will pay this as it was obviously my fault. He said the car has to be repaired to standard so they only get one quote. Is that allowed? or even normal practice? i always thought they got 3 quotes and went with the cheapest.

Yes it is allowed. It is also allowed for them to go get three, four, five quotes and pick the Highest one. They can have the body repairs done at the shop of There choice. This is to prevent insurance company`s and others to have the car done at There body shop and they may not do a quality repair. I would just pay them or have your insurance pay them. And just chalk this up as a learning experience.

You scratched their vehicle, they don't necessarily have to run around to get you multiple quotes. And they have the right to require their vehicle to be repaired to manufacturers specs or returned to the condition it was in before the accident.

In a rental, it can be covered by your vehicle insurance or, if you have none, that required by the rental company.
