Yep! just ring them at DVLA and send the disc back to the address given - you'll get a refund on the months outstanding

Yes, as soon as your car is not being used, get a form from the Post Office and you can send your tax disc for a refund for the remainder of the time on it. You won't get it back dated though, so do it soon, and also, it's calculated in months so, for example, if you send it back today, you'll be refunded from the start of May.

Hi we have just had the same thing happen to us you will get a refund for each full month left on the tax so send it now before this month runs out too.
You need to get a tax disc refund form from the post office and send it back with the disc, you should get 5mths tax back and its better in your pocket.

fill out your registered form and send to DVLA with tax disc and they will refund you the difference

Fill out the form or go to your DVLA local office with the form and the disc an they'll sort you out. You are entitled to a refund only for the full months that the tax has still to run so the sooner the better

Yes, just post the tax disc back to the DVLA and tell them that the car is off the road, they will then give you a refund, but if you still own the car you will have to pay a SORN on it.

Location, Location, Location?

In NC, USA , citizens pay property tax on the previous year of ownership--I just paid property tax for the previous year on a car sold a few months ago. Property Tax payment is triggered based on the payment of tag fees that are paid once a year. Property taxes are due about three months after paying the tag fees.
These two items (tag fees & property taxes) are scheduled to be due in a combined sum whenever tag fees are paid at the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, system is supposed to be in place in the next year or so.

Road tax is an additional tax that gets paid every time we purchase gas.
