I'm glad he's not my mate. |

Gotcha

People can go to prison for obstructing the course of justice and for perjury. Don't be such a fool. £500 is soon spent. He obviously isn't an honourable person, so perhaps you should consider whether or not you want him for a friend. I do hope you aren't daft enough to do it. |

You would be abigger fool to accept the offer.
Is having a fine and at least 3 points on your license worth £500. |

No, Don't do it! your reputation is worth more than that. |

You'll get into bigger trouble if you get caught, some camera's catch the driver's face too. I wouldn't do it. |

its not worth it, some camera's get the drivers face as well then you would be done for lying and be in bigger trouble don't be a fool and don't do it. |

Don`t you get your license endorsed. It was his fault let him take the rap. Only a gutless, selfish person would expect this from a friend - he is not being a good friend to you.
All the best. |

Dont do it. You dont know what else they have lurking there in the criminal system for him. He should learn to take his lumps and live with them. |

The fact that you are asking this question is proof that you know it would be a very unwise move on your part. Some mate you have there that he would ask you to take his punishment for his dangerous driving. What if the offence was Assault, Rape or Murder would you consider taking the blame for him, knowing full well that they would lose their liberty?
If you are caught lying to the police about this then you will be prosecuted for perverting the course of justice. Is £500 payment worth a criminal record and jail time? |

He's no mate. Don't do it! He was doing more than 26mph over the limit so it won't be a simple 3 points and £60 fixed penalty. The speed he was doing would probably mean a court appearance.
For travelling between 26 and 35 mph faster than a 40-50 mph speed limit, the guidelines suggest that magistrates endorse with 6 penalty points or consider disqualification for between 14 and 56 days. This info is from: http://www.pepipoo.com/Magistrates_guidelines.htm
Check out the calculator on the same website to see what magistrates indicate for the speed your friend was doing.
If you are still considering it at least make sure you are insured to have driven his car or you could be looking at driving with no insurance (another 6-8 points - you would most probably lose your licence for this plus the speeding). And then your friend could also get done for 'aiding and abetting driving with no insurance' for allowing you to drive his car (penalty code IN14) and he would end up with 6-8 points and lose his licence anyway. Then you are both screwed.
Say to your so called mate "don't make your problems my problems", he was the one speeding, let him deal with it. |

NO, do not do it. Lying to the court about these types of things is a much bigger crime. |

No don't do it because if you get caught speeding a little less recklessly then you are in danger of losing his license.
My fella lost his license for 6 months and he still drives everywhere like a bat out of hell so he won't learn anyway!! |

Tell him to use that money towards a bus pass ... he'll need it. Mate or not, you can't "bend over" to take weiner for him ...
... it's not ethical, it's not fair to YOU, and it's not worth the money or potential for getting caught making false statements and such. |

No, these camera's take really clear photo's so it is extremely unlikely that you would get away with it. I know someone who tried this and when they received the photo through it was very obvious who was driving. It is not worth the risk. Why would you want to have points and a fine yourself. |

Let him take the ban. It will make the roads a bit safer. If you help out you may be £500 richer, but that won't cover the fine if you get caught. Also the Police are quite good at discovering this sort of scam, and it doesn't lead to a motoring ban. It leads to a conspiracy charge, Crown Court, a criminal record and possible jail time. |
