Go to the post office with the green slip, MOT certificate and insurance certificate. While you are at the post office pick up a form V62 to apply for the registration certificate in your name. Keep the green slip safe as this will save you from paying £25 for a registration certificate, you will know what I mean when you get and read the V62 form. |

The DVLA have a web site. You can tax your car ,inform them of change of ownership and other things,I would expect them to be able to RE REGISTER your car. Worth checking. I tax my car that way, all the paper work is easy. |

If it is your car, you are potentially committing an offence by leaving it registered in your friends name. Get your friend to sign it over to you, then go to the post office with your road tax form and the registration documents and tell them that you are the new owner, and they will issue the tax in your name and send the registration documents off for re-registering. |

surely to tax it you just need insurance in your name and a current mot certificate if there are any problems you can show them the reciept part of the V5 |

If you fill in the left hand side of the log book with ur details and take it to your post office with mot and insurance cert they will take it off u and send it off to get it changed if not take in the little green slip u got when u brought the car (right hand side of the log book) with ur mot and ins doc u can tax it that way aslong as the green slip is not dated more than two months ago. The date can not be altered or it is in valid. |

You need the v5 from Swansea, but if desperate you will have to get friend to tax it,that is the only way you will be able to do it. |

Just hand the usual documents and V62 form in at the post office and you can tax it. The fact that the car is not registered to you is irrelevant when taxing the car. The post office staff will probably take the form off you and forward it in to the DVLA. |
