I have declared my car as SORN due to an accident repair that was taking too long. The car isfully insured and I wish to re-tax the car, however its sunday and the dvla website is down for repair? am I allowed to drive the car?

Thanks, but the car is opn top and it's a sunnyday! this is the reason I bought the car in the first place and pay ridiculous amounts of insurance premiums for! It's been repaird and i've missed driving it! I'm prepared to pay for a whole month insurance just to be able to drive it today!

with regard to reply saying go for it! - your insurance will be invalid if car is not correctly taxed, I wouldn't risk it. |

Definate no.
Because your car is no longer taxed, the insurance will not be valid.
If you had an accident and someone was injured or killed, you could have the pants sued of you. It's not worth the risk.
There will be plenty of other sunny days. |

I would say you are not allowed to drive it untill you have formally notified the DVLA.
You know how black and white they see things !!
Besides it is not taxed for the road which is a second offence !!
For the benefit of our US readers SORN is a UK declaration that the car is off the road to prevent automatic prosecution for not paying road tax. |

i know you want to drive but do you realise even if you could tax the car now you will pay for the whole of april, leave it two days and you gain a whole month.
no you're not allowded to drive the car, but you have insurance which is the most important thing. if i were you, i'd go for it! |

I don't understand the term but I am guessing what you mean. You had the car listed as a accident car with the dmv. Unless you had the dmv ok it again. I would say no. If you really had to get around i would borrow or rent a car until you can find out. Why chance a legal issue |
