I have my driving test next week?

Just like millions of others like you, nerves are all part of the driving test. But, if you have prepared for the test with your instructor then you should be able to handle it.
As an Instructor I have had numerous pupils who have all been nervous before AND after the test.
One pupil that I remember had a terrible time. She lived in a village about 20 miles from where I train, but she wanted to go out with me. So I made myself available to her. She wanted to learn to drive before she emigrated to Australia. Nothing much to worry about that, but she had 3 months to do it. We worked together to get her ready and she managed to get a test booking on the 31st December. This gave her 2 weeks before she was leaving. If she failed she could re book it.
Anyway, on test day I went to her house to pick her up. No reply to the doorbell, strange I thought, then her neighbour came out and told me that her mother had taken a stroke at 2.30 that morning and was in hospital. Hospital was about 14 miles away, so I went to it. I eventually found her. Her test was 1 hour away, so I decided to drive to the test centre and try and fit in a few manoeuvres when we got there.
As we arrived, I noticed only 1 examiner but 2 candidates, turns out her test was an hour later. So, she decided to go for a coffee at tesco's. After telling me what had happened it was test time. She came back with a pass...NOT ONE MENTION OF NERVES. I told her that she did not mention anything about nerves or her thoughts before her test. She told me she had more worrying things than a Driving test.
Her examiner turned out to be a schoolmate of her mothers, and was upset to hear about it.
One of my colleagues had a pupil who was so nervous that she locked her examiner out of the car. She was asked about her oil and tyres only to tell the examiner her dad did that. Our test centre is an off road centre and you need to drive about 10 metres to join the road. This girl failed before she even got to the exit. She got out and ran back to the TC, abandoning the test car in the middle of the road.
Another pupil ( who I did tell her that she would be a better pedestrian!) was driving with her examiner. I was sitting in the back. On her test, she left her fan on full and she couldn't make out what the examiner was saying to her, but she didn't turn the fan off...Near the end of the test, the examiner said to her " what did she do for a living", I'm a single mother, was her reply. She turned round to ask her examiner "and what do you do, Ken". True, honestly.
There are herbal remedies you can take. My wife took them 2 weeks before her test and she passed first time with only 2 minors. Not bad.

Its hard to get rid of the nerves, as taking a driving test is such a massive part of life. But the way I did it, which may or may not help, is thinking to myself... 'ALL I'm doing is taking my driving test. I'm not in danger, I can't get hurt, the worst that can happen is I don't pass, in which case I can take it again' I know thats not going to make u feel much better, but its the best advice I can give. I don't believe in all these breathing techniques and things like that for nerves, because its natural to be terrified about something so important.

Don't be nervous it's just a driving test, just think to youself if you fail you can just take it again, it's not that big a deal.
A lot of people take their test many times before they pass, it's normal to feel nervous but try not to make a big deal out of it since after all you can take it again.
