I have to file a police report for a hit and run, what should i expect at the station?

someone hit my car, and there is a lot of damage, and i have to file a police report. basically i just want to know what will happen there, will they sit me down and ask a bunch of questions? will i just have to fill out a paper and hand it in? I'm nervous about it because this is the first time i have ever had to do anything with the police

they will ask u where it happened, when it happened, about what time, what day. It will be about a 40 minute or less trip. they will also ask for ur id and insurance card so bring those. Also if the car is in the spot it got hit right now just call 911 and say i have a non emergency so that way if u don't move the car they can get pictures. If you have already moved it take lots of pictures for ur insurance |

YOu should go equipped.. Take some photos of the location and the car.. so that you can make their report easier. Have a list of any witnesses or supplemental information..
Each jurisdiction handles Hit and Runs a bit differently. Sometimes the officer will complete the report and ask you to sign.. other times they will ask you for a written statement. You can prepare your written statement ahead of time and attach it to their form. That way you can review it and edit it at your leisure.
