I have to have SR-22 insurance but my car is already insured. My dad is the primary and I am the secondary....?

Do I have to carry owners or can I carry non-owners? The car is still under loan and is insured, but in order to get my license back I have to have sr-22. I'm just wondering if because I am the secondary on the car do I really have to carry an owners policy.

my dad has alstate and they don't carry sr-22 policies.

You can have a non-owned vehicle policy and have an SR-22.

I doubt you are on your dad's policy but if you are then call his insurance agent and tell them you need an SR-22 filing.

It is not enough for you to just have insurance. The DMV requires a special filing for you called an SR-22. You have to call the agent or insurance company and ask for it.
