I hit a vehicle parked in a NO PARKING zone in my apt complex. The veh owner also lives here am I AF? Manager?

parking zone or not, you hit a stationary object. it was your fault.
If the no parking zone is because of safety reasons (meaning fire evacuation route) etc & required by law then the person parked their can also be charged for that offence.

You're at fault for hitting the car. They will be fined for parking in the NO PARKING zone, but you'll still be responsible for the damages.

You hit a parked car, on private property. Just tell your insurance company and they will pay for your at fault damages. The "No Parking" sign is beside the point. Most cities have an ordinance that states "No children will play in the street" but that doesn't excuse you if you happen to hit one of them.

You can discuss having illegal parkers towed, but it won't get out of of the facts that you hit them and caused damage.

No. You hit a parked vehicle, who else is responsible? The building management wasn't driving, you were. You are 100% at fault, without question.

Sorry to say, but you Are At Fault. Just because someone is parked wrong, does not mean you can hit their car and get away with it. I live in Hollywood, everyone drives, parks and leaves their cars wherever they feel like. As mad as you may be.....you are still responsible.

I think you would honestly have a case to fight for fault. I've actually wondered this same thing, the people at my apartments are ridiculously lazy and park in front of fire hydrants, along fire lanes, or in those little alcoves that are for people to have extra room to back out of their spots. I imagine they might cite you, but there should be no way that the other vehicle doesn't get cited, they're idiots.

IN MOST STATES THIS COULD BE A 50/50 CLAIM, MEANING THAT YOU PAY FOR YOUR DAMAGES AND THE OTHER PERSON WOULD PAY FOR THEIR DAMAGES.

BUT AT THE SAME TIME SOME STATES WOULD CONSIDER YOU COMPLETELY RESPONSIBLE.

I'm no lawyer, but I have my doubts about you getting out of this. The bottom line is that you hit a parked car, regardless of whether it was supposed to be there or not. (imagine it was broken down on the side of the road...sure, it should be there, but that doesn't make it ok to hit it).

If anything, I think management would be even less liable as they were not permitting the car to be parked there in the first place.
