Since I rarely drive the vehicle , I let the insurance lapse. Now I'm faced with paying for an accident out of my pocket.
The only injuries was my pride and pockets. How long does it usually take to for my new found bill to arrive? Months, weeks?
Additional Details
My Car 2002 Jeep Wrangler (No Damage),
her car 2001 Honda Odyessy, complete
back hatch/bumper destoryed.

Was the other car insured ? Did you get a ticket ? Was it on private property ?

An accident without insurance is scary because everyone is sue crazy nowadays. If the person you hit only wants payment for the damage to their vehicle then you could call them and ask for 3 estimates, then pay the bill right away and get it all in writing. If they talk to a lawyer they probably won't take the case unless you are well off financially.
Also, if they ask for medical bills or pain and suffering then it could take you over 6 months to get a bill or they could keep asking you for money. Keep communicating with them, tell them that you are travelling soon and need to settle this quickly. |

years...... And be careful and frugal, I would get a lawyer. they can say that they got an injury that stemmed from the accident much later and low and behold, with no one on your side to fight it you may be left paying for it or court costs to fight it, and it may not even be related. |

You will likely get a subrogation letter after all costs to repair, tow and rental expenses are paid to the other driver. Usually a few weeks --(providing the other party isn't in the hospital). Plenty of time to get a second job. |

Unless they backed in to you it's your fault.
You can be sure that the person you hit will go to he insurance company with a claim & they will contact you.
It might have been cheaper in the long run to admit to it & dealt with the owner of the car. |

First of all it depends on what state u r in........then u have to wait for courts and insurance co. to settle.....could be a few months.......some states take your drivers license for driving without insurance the length with no drivers license is usually 3 months |

it depends upon the other person and what they decide to do. It could be tommorow, but most like a week to 10 days before you hear from the person or hopefully NOT an attorney. |

The other party's insurance company will be in touch shortly. As soon as they've worked up all the costs, they'll send you a demand for payment. Usually within a very few weeks. Hope you have the resources to pay in full immediately or your license will be pulled until the bills are paid. |
