In most states it's automatically your fault for not having your vehical under control. In some states the accident wouldn't be your fault, as the driver in front of you may have caused the sudden stop. Your insurance will cover you regardless and the other driver. It's however the policeman wrote up the ticket. Hopefully it's "a no fault".
Always be very observative of what's going on around you, as you drive. It's not always you who causes the wreck. It's your quick thinking that avoids wrecks 9 times out of 10.
Until, you're sure of yourself and your new car, please leave off the Cell phone and the loud radio. You don't want any distractions, until you feel road worthy........know what I mean?

Well, if you have full coverage, both cars can be fixed by your insurance, but your rates will skyrocket. If you have the money, and the damage was not to much, you could try to pay for the damage on the other car with cash and deal with the damage on yours. This will save you three years of crazy high insurance |

Work with the person you hit. If the damage is bad, you might want to contact your insurance company, but if its not too bad, try paying for the work yourself so you don't risk higher insurance rates. |

Hopefully, the car is insured. You need to call your insurance company and file a claim (report the accident). They will take a statement from you and may make arrangements to see the damage on your vehicle.
With the other person, you better hope they aren't hurt because they can get a lot of money from your insurance company by faking injuries. Or more money, if they're not faking. |
