I lent someone my car, then someone else stole it and wrecked it!!?

schedule an appointment with a lawyer to ask for legal advice if you go to your agency they might try to get information out of you that will not help your claim. He's going to ask for your contract and a copy of your exclusion list. If your friend was on your exclusion list you're not covered AT ALL. Also you have to make your in your contract that it allows you to lend your car for small amounts of time. If they investigate and find out that he was borrowing it for weeks at a time it won't be covered because you should've added him on as a driver. Some insurances have a statement in the contract that it will not be covered at all if you lend it to ANYONE. These policies are cheaper but not worth it in these cases. Also if your friend lives in the same household you won't be covered because you are required to provide them with that info....if you didn't you're in the wrong. If it was truly stolen then they should cover your property. But they will do a full investigation if they find the vehicle to truly see if there wasn't any fraud. FRAUD is serious don't mess around. If this truly happend ; Where was your car parked? if you can get any statments from people that saw where it was parked ask them to write you a statement that will help some. In different states the limits are different but here in texas basic full coverage covers 25,000 dollars worth of loss believe me if it was the full 25 your insurance might get cancelled and wherever you go for the next 3-5 years your insurance will cost more. You're 20 you don't have to be scared to tell your parents anything. As an adult if its your business and they notice you have a new car you can explain what happend and tell them now I know never to lend my car to anyone. But if they were the cosigner's you might have to tell them because it's on their credit. Good luck!

Have to tell them the truth because it will come out with the insurance company and then your parents will be more upset because you hid it from them

Simply report the theft to your insurance company. They will advise you. Scared to tell your parents ? We can't do anything about that

Well, clearly, you've got to get the police report filed for the theft. State Farm will likely cancel the policy, and your parents are GOING to find out sooner or later.

This is a THEFT claim. Assuming the car is actually owned by them, and the policy is their policy, it's going to be THEIR recorded statement. Plus, of course, a recorded statement by the guy who you loaned the car too.

I'd suggest, you tell them NOT TO LIE. Most likely, THEY cracked up the car, and it wasn't actually stolen.

Does your insurance policy has comprehensive (theft) or collision coverage? I hope you do. If you don't you will have to sue the driver that crashed your car in small claims court for your damages.

You have to tell your parents, the truth will set you free. You will feel a lot better and your parents will give you the best advise on how to deal with this situation in a lot of cases. You will have to learn a hard lesson, the good news is that your insurance company will probably pay for the accident if you have the right coverage and the driver was licensed at the time of the accident. If the driver wasn't licensed, then you may be in some deep trouble.

As long as you carry comprehensive (fire/theft) you should be covered, unless your policy has a clause that states only rated drivers have permission to drive your vehicle.

As for telling your parents, do you think they're not going to find out. Best to be up front and truthful. If you lie or try to keep it from them, it will come around to bite you in the butt later. Lies only snowball into bigger lies.

Natalia, I think you have the right to sue the person you allowed to borrow your car. Don't think they wouldn't sue you, you have to look out for number 1 and thats YOU! Ask your insurance company, do some research, or even call an attorney.Never trust anyone with such valuables. They evidently left the keys in the ignition or something --even if it was leaving the doors unlocked. Good luck with this one.
