I have State Farm. My car was stolen and never found. Now we're 'negotiating' on a settlement.
Also, 2 days before my car was stolen, I put $650 into repairs. (Breaks, tires, ti-rods, roters, ect) Can I get any of that money back? (The police asked me and documented it)
Is there any other tips anyone has for getting more money back so I can buy a new car? (I had an 02' Sebring Coupe with aprox 55,000 miles on it)

-I didn't leave it unlocked. They broke out a window and took it.
-You said that 'home-owners' covers things. Is this true if 1.) I don't have homeowners insurance and 2.) The theft happened at work. (I heard that you could claim belongings under these conditions)
Also, I would definitively say that new tires DO add value to your car.

Repairs that you made to keep the car running in reasonable condition don't INCREASE the value of the car - maintenance is expected and normal.
Stuff IN the car, like your personal posessions, cd's, drycleaning, wallet, etc, are covered by RENTERS insurance or HOMEOWNERS insurance, not car insurance. |

You would have to speak with your adjuster about those items being covered. I'm sure if you can produce receipts for the work done they may increase the offer but only slightly. Other than that, your auto insurance covers your auto only, No personal items that were in the vehicle. |

If you have receipts for the $650 in repairs you did to the car, you can definitely mention it, but, keep in mind that it will probably fall under normal maintenance and not be covered.
As for the personal property in the vehicle, that is only covered under a homeowners or renter's policy. So, you're out of luck there unless you have a renters policy, or are living with your parents and still under-age and covered under their homeowners.
New tires don't add value - they are part of maintenance. When you go to kbb.com or nada.com, it doesn't ask how old your tires are. Sorry.
I hope you will now look into a renter's policy though. |

most insurance will not cover belongings in a vehicle..If it is a stereo system, contact you insurance Co. and tell them of the improvements. If the belongings are work related such as a lap top used in work and kept in a work vehicle..they may cover from it being work related if you cover you vehicle as a work vehicle. |

full coverage will cover everything - state farm is a great insurance compnay - just keep asking questions and you'll get where you need to be to recover everything |

full covage means you get everthing the only deal is some insurence companies will withhold the money if you left your car unlocked or left the windows down cause they call that ascoation which means since you left it unlocked you helped the theft thats the only looppole in your contracts you sign with them |
