My mom is freaking out that i lost my license on the bus. Nothing can happen, right? shes just paranoid or what?

If your license has your social security number on it then it is a big deal.
Also, whoever finds it will know your name and address. |

Other than using it to steal your identity, run up a few thousand dollars in bills, empty your bank account and maybe get you tossed in jail when someone pretends to be you at a DUI stop, prpbably just over reacting. |

Only now some moron can use your ID to obtain things illegally, and commit crimes and fraud as YOU. Get to your DMV asafp and get a replacement. Thats your official record that your original was lost and if anything should happen, the police have a time line. |

Ever heard of identity theft? You need to contact your state DMV immediately and let them know your license was lost. Then go get a duplicate license.
I hope in your state the DL doesn't have your social security number on it. |

They can use your Driver's license number to find out everything they want about you. They can give that number to find out your social security claiming they forgot it and then steal your identity. Report that you lost it to the police. They can do nothing but at least you have it on record that you lost it and it will be easier for you to explain to Mastercard when there are carges that you did not do are on there with a police report. Trust me. |

It's not that hard to replace just go to DMV pay the fee fill the form out and they give you a temporary license until the real one is mailed out. However what your mom is refering to is Identity Theft. It does happen both for money as well as identification. What I mean is they can use your identity to get credit cards or the next time they get in trouble and a cop asks for ID they can use yours. |
