Age is against you and so is the car as its the most common vehicle that is driven by youngsters and involved in accidents.

Look at a Microcar or something similar that has a very small engine just to get you going.

Don't do what Jan409 advocates as this would be fraud, an additional named driver would only be expected to drive on limited occasions, not drive as the main user.

Insurance companies are really cracking down on this now.

You don't say whether you have passed your test. All insurances will be sky high as you are so young. The only advice I can give you is to go on your parents insurance as a named driver, and give them the difference. But as they are the main insured, you should not use the car all the time as it would be classed as a scam and therefore illegal.

You're 17, and not trusted yet. That's just the way it is I'm afraid, unless you're driving a beater with liability only. Comprehensive / full coverage? Prepare for more hours, or a second job. $3500 sounds about right, for full coverage on the kind of car a 17 year old wants to drive.

Get a immobolizer and alarm fitted that is insurance aproved ,Basically u need to ask your insurance company what u can do to lower the quote ,sometimes its drive less miles ,sometimes they knock some off if its garaged ,basically dont get such a boy racer car or you are going to pay boy racer prices

i knwo someone who was about 3k and they only charged 800 :D

else, own and register your car

and you go on the policy as a named driver

My son , same age, did this,

at 17 you should NOT be driving anything over a 1L. You're still a child for gods sake. Ask mummy and daddy to help you...
