Is the car totalled? If it's not your fault, the insurance company of the other person will pay you the value of your car. If you owe more than the what the value is, you'll be in the hole, but whoever your finance company is will almost always work with you on financing another car with you and working the remaing amount on your old car into the new finance agreement. You should be fine.

If your car is not totalled, then the person who hit you should have their insurance pay to fix the damage.

What ever you do, DO NOT call YOUR insurance company unless its the last resort. Even if it's not your fault, your insurance company can increase your premiums immediately after your current agreement.

If it wasn't your fault, and the other driver had insurance, your insurance agency will act in your behalf with the other parties agency. Call your agent, give them your police report information.

They will tell you exactly what you need to do as far as estimates and getting the car fixed. Where the car is not paid off, I would at least get one of your estimates from the dealership's recommended shop.

Hopefully no one was hurt!

Dude, you sound completely lost. Therefore I strongly advise you call your insurance company tonight if possible and report the loss. They will walk you through the whole mess.
P.S. -- be sure to ask any questions you have when you speak to your claims addjuster.

First, call your insurance company. They will either give you a list of places to go to have it fixed OR will decide on the damage amount and give you a check for it. Bring your police report and all information re: the accident. If you get a check, don't sign it until you are sure that you can find a place to fix it for that much. Signing the check negates any further responsibility for the insurance company.

If the other person is at fault, your insurance company will go after him and his insurance company.

Well theres nothing the dealership will do .It's your car and it was your fault.There not responsible,your insurance should take care of it,if no insurance well get your check book out,And what caused the accident anyway?

Some retard just hit my car and ran. What happened was we (including my family) had to go the police station and find the person who hit our car (we got the lisence number). They went to the person (who refused she did it, but there were 3 witnesses) and we had to prove she did it. It took so long that we ended up paying for it ourselves and now we're waiting for the persons insurance company to pay for it. You could try it that way, unless you find a better way.
