I just got home from school and checked the mail, and in it was a big envelope that said "State of Georgia Department of Revenue" and some other stuff about motor vehicle license plates and registration. My 17th birthday is Thursday and I think I'm getting a car. I know there is a license plate in the envelope, I can feel it and its so obvious. But I wanted to know if I can put in the license plate ID anywhere and figure out what kind of car my parents got me?
I figured out what the license plate said without opening the envelope by getting a piece of paper and a pencil and shading the paper over the envelope, and the engraved letters & numbers stood out on the paper. So I know the license plate ID...is there any way to find out what car is registered to it? Thanks in advance.

Wouldn't you rather be surprised? I guess not.After all your only 17. But one thing you should know. If the envelope is from the state and has a license plate then you could be absolutely positive that there is ALSO a registration in the envelope with the plate. On this document will be the year & make of the vehicle. Don't tell anyone I told you. Happy Birthday, BTW. Enjoy the car and be safe and smart about driving. |

You could call the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) and give them the plate number, and ask them if they could tell you what the vehicle is registered to that tag... The might give it to you.

You can try your local dmv website to see if you can enter in the plate number and see if it returns a make and model for the registration. |
