I need to know about car insurance?

so i got in a lil lil car acdent it wasent realy even one i just left a scarb a lil one on his car see i was on the highway my breaks dident stop in time i was going really slow when it happen and it left a lil scarb on the back of his car so he said if i have 220 dollars by saturday he will not cal my moms car insurance if he calls the insurance would my mom find out? and what would happen if he called them?

If he called them they would pay instead of you and your Mom would find out. Because your rates MAY (not will) go up should never be the determing factor as to if the insurance is notified or not. Not notifing your insurance is simply a dumb and foolish thing to do. What's a scarb? spell check

Yes they would contact your mother. Raising rates all depends on the car company, and how much is paid out. If you pay out of pocket you are taking a huge risk in him taking the money...then him calling your insurance company anyway. You are obligated to report this to your insurance company either way...but you can tell them you are handling it out of pocket. They can probably make it an information-only file for you. Also if you pay out of pocket...PUT IT DOWN IN WRITING!!! And have this other party sign it!!! You are out of the protection of your insurance company when you do this..so be careful. I think you need to tell your mother about the accident. Mothers are usually very understanding and forgiving.

Generally, if one is involved in an auto accident and has insurance, one should notify the insurance company and let them handle the situation.

Firstly, if they contact your moms insurance, your mom WILL know about that. That being said, most insurance companies have a "non-surchargeable" claim amount that means if the other party claims damages below that from your insurance company, then the premium will not go up the next time your insurance is due. For example in South Dakota for my company liberty mutual it was $750. It depends on your insurance company and your state. And the other thing is, most insurance companies may NOT have to process a claim unless there is a police report. Depends on the amount of claim I guess.

If he called them then yes your mom would find out. What would happen is your insurance company would pay for the damages to his vehicle and raise your insurance rates. If you vehicle has damage then your insurance company may cover that as well (if you have full coverage) but will again raise your rates.
