Yes, you will have to eventually.

The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver C.P.C.) will validate the vocational licence and without it a lorry driver cannot legally drive their vehicle.

This is an E.U. wide requirement and comes into force on 10th September 2009 for L.G.V. drivers in the U.K.

You do have to take the driver cpc but not until 2013,because you passed your test in 1989.Without it you cannot do the job that you have been doing for 20 years.Crazy or what?
