I see people driving around with expired vehicle tags, how do i turn them in?

i don't see how fair it is that we both share the road, however, i have to pay my registration & taxes, yet others do not.
and i'm not talking about 30-days late here, i see cars with up to 5+ months late.
i want to turn them in, how do i do it? state is virginia...

well think of it like this...
the funds obtained from paid registrations & taxes go to:
1) improve road conditions and repairs.
2) to pay the wages & supplies for our state police force (better cars, bullet-proof vests, more training).
3) go towards lowering taxes on areas where tax increases were made to compensate those unpaid car taxes each year.
we all share the road, why should someone who is delinquent on paying for registration still have the same rights i do?
and as far as hardships go, well if i was poor, i would have made sacrifices to pay the registration & tax... perhaps others should do the same or start to learn how to walk. 5-months... that's not even $20/month to save.

You're paying registration and taxes but you're also legal and have nothing to worry about. Why turn this person in when it doesn't really affect you? Trust me, they will be caught eventually and it will cost them more. Don't worry so much about those people with expired tags, unless you're the police. That's what they get paid for. |

I used to live in Virginia... It's bad enough having to live there, don't make someone else's life more difficult. They are getting heavy fines already, I was late with mine and each month it goes up, up, and away...

i think you should mine your own. unless they endanger you or someone else, then i think you should pay attention to your own driving. obviously you arent watching the road much. |

You take down the plate number, type of car, color all that good info and you all DMV and turn them in. We have that here in Az with snow birds all the time. |

It's a bogus law. I had my car wrecked by some lady in a 2005 jeep something or other, she didn't have any insurance & I think her license was expired. The cops took down my insurance company & checked my drivers license. My car was considered beyond repair because of it's age 1994 even though it only had 40,000 miles on it. My insurance paid $7000 to fix her jeep even though she had no insurance & while I was being driven to the hospital in an ambulance, the cops let her drive her car home & told her to make sure she got insurance. She should have been put in jail for dtiving without a license & no insurance & the cops should have impounded her car. The accident never would have happenned in the first place if she had not been on the road & home like most people with no license or insurance. |
