The conviction will stay on your license for 11 years and will affect the cost of any insurance for 5 years so companies will be unwilling to employ you as your insurance premiums will be high |

I'm not exactly sure, but my dad had a drink driving conviction and went on to drive lorries when his ban was lifted. I think the points stay on your license for 5 years. Try and contact DVLA or somewhere where they do lorry driving courses, there's no harm in asking. Good Luck. |

As a professional HGV driver, I would not want to be associated with someone who has a DD10 conviction, because if you were idiotic enough to drive a car while under the influence, what is stopping you doing the same in a lorry ? The LGV licence as it is known is a vocational licence & you have to give reasons why you feel you are entitled to obtain one, and if I was on the licencing panel you would not get past the application stage. Sorry, that is how I feel, after being off work for 13 months due to a drunk barmaid, driving home at 0340 and crashing into me on a December morning! |

Sorry to say it is correct that it stays on your license for 11 years.I got a one year ban but did get to drive Lorry's but only when the transport manager ok'd it with the company insurance.I was lucky but this is rare.Think of a new career my friend.For me it was 15 years ago but i don't think much has changed. |
