Your question does not give much of a clue as to why you want to check the registration number. I have given you with a couple of websites that will provide basic information with regards to the make/model etc and they do not charge for this information. However if you want a more detailed response, they will make a charge.

There is also a link to the DVLA website that will give you basic details regarding the vehicle.

Hope this helps as you haven't received any positive suggestions so far.

No free lunch. If you want to use a service like Carfax, it costs. And before you come back and ask....No nobody can do it for you. It violates the TOS for people to do so.

what do you want to check about. If its engine details a lot of your autopart stores have a system called mam which quickly logs on to the dvla and returns the vehicle details

Why not ask the owner of the vehicle? Whoever the owner is, if they have current registration, they should have proof of it. It's the law, and the first thing police check when they do a "stop" on a vehicle.

I have a checked through many sites and they are all paid sites. Sorry that I could not be more helpful in this matter

No.

Any information you get for free is worth what you paid for it.
Anything worth finding out will cost you.

If you mean you want to find the owner, DVLA will tell you, for a fee, IF you can prove you have reasonable need to know the information. They won't tell you for "social" reasons - Data Protection.

If you mean something like an hpi check, you won't get it for free. The companies that do this, not unreasonably, require payment for their services.

You can only get this information from the DVLA and you must state a very good reason for wanting this info. You have to pay a non refundable fee and the DVLA must have permission from the owner of this registration number before they can pass it on to you.

JUST REMEMBER THAT THERE IS A THING CALLED THE "PRIVACY ACT" AND IT IS THERE FOR YOUR PROTECTION AS WELL.

ALSO REMEMBER THAT IF YOU DO SUCCEED THERE IS ALSO SOMETHING CALLED A "PAPER TRIAL" THAT IN SOME STATES CARRIES A STEP FINE.

check it for what purpose?

if it is to find the owner of a registered vehicle, the DVLA charge a fee of at least £2.50. as far as i am aware the DVLA is the only authority with the information - under Data Protection laws you can be charged up to £50.

in other words, you have to pay a fee.

If its a Ford, try the Ford, Lincoln Mercury Business ( etc for other cars) by giving them the VIN number.

Otherwise the Court House Division of Motor Vehicles is your best bet.

Your best bet is to call DVLA on 0870 240 0010 and speak to the vehicles department. I think that there will be an online checking service but I am not sure.
