My mum thinks theres no point at i'll be in Uni for about 5 years and its better to do it after youve got the education out of the way but im desperate to drive. I really want to get a car but i dont know how i'll get the money seeing as my account doesnt mature till im 21 and theres hardly any jobs that will take 16-17 yr olds. Ah what should i do? I dont want to wait that long.

There's loads of work out there for students. I worked weekends at a catalogue shopping place all through collage and uni. £110 for 13 hours work, and thats up ere in the north where it's grim.
There's always supermarkets and places like Argos that take on students for weekend and evening work. |

Answer this, is it a want or a need?
If it is a need or more of a need than a want, then go for it, i've been drivin for 4 months and i'm loving it.
But if its a want rather than a need, then you may want to wait until you have enough money as it can be rather expensive, probably the worst thing about driving and you will most likely need quite a bit of money for uni. |

Take the driving lessons, get a licence, borrow or hire a car when you need one. Even a small car costs about £20 a week in tax and insurance before you think about actually driving anywhere. Why not get a motorbike, cheaper and more fun. |

If you want to work as a bagger I think Kroger grocery store are hiring for that. and you can work weekends and night shift. |

you have a bit yet
1)learn and get a full licence - once you have the piece of paper - you keep it
2) go on your mums insurance for a year or do - its expensive, but when you do a year it drops by LOADS

If you are mechanically inclined consider buying a older car and overhauling it yourself. When and if you buy a older car get someone who is a mechanic to go with you and give it a once over then take his advise. You must remember at your age if you so much as have a argument with a policeman the insurance premium will skyrocket. Another very impotent issue is brakes and tires. many,many accidents are due to brake and tire failure.Good luck |

you can't even buy car insurance when you are 17, you have to be 18 to be able to at least buy both car and the insurance. You can't drive without it anyway.
You can start working on a little job, and look on craiglist etc... You don't have to get a good looking car, just a car take you to point A to point B. I will say $500 will probably do it.
