I own a 2007 Honda civic SI. It was flooded in my garage a few days ago. the water came up to the bottom of my dash. Engine starts but sounds funny. I'm concerned that the warranty of the car is voided. And more than anything my car is now a salvage and the value drastically dropped. I still owe about 12,000 the car is/was worth between 18-19,000 and it only has 20,000 miles, so i had a bit of equity. So I'm hoping they will declare it a total loss. what ya think?

Well, depending on the milage and condition, your car is worth AT BEST around $16,000. Not $19K. You don't get retail or replacement value.
But also typically, flood totals out the car. Once water gets into the electrical system, a car is never the same again, and it's all wonky. |

More than likely they will total it. If the water got that high all the electronics have been wet. Car could become an electrical nitemare for the rest of its life. I ve seen late model cars with less water than that get totaled.............And yes your warranty will be void, the first time you take it in and they see water damage that's it...........md |

It's done for. Once water reaches the dash there are jut too many electronic devices and connectors that will go bad/corrode, not to mention the flooded transmission. |
