i pay £120 on insurance already, extra cash on that will force me to stop driving till i am older.

In short, no there isn't. Unless the police decide to offer you a "speed awareness" course if they run one. If it's a camera that got you, you won't have that option, it'll be three points & £60 fine. There's no point in going to court about it, you won't win and it'll cost you more.

Be aware that you only have 6 points to play with within the first two years of getting your licence. Tell your insurers but don't worry too much, they usually overlook one minor peccadillo; they might even laugh and tell you not to worry about it.

Well just imagine if you hit a person at 40mph, they would have less chance of survival than if you hit them at 30mph.

If you can't drive within speed limits, then don't drive at all.

I think it will be a lesson learned for you.

you live and learn honey. thats life.

Tough. Perhaps in future you'll learn to keep your speed down. You broke the law so you can expect to pay for it.

new driver...not likely...after all that is not what you were taught was it....if you were just 2-3 miles over...but ten...what defence could there be....

nenoneno
sorry but u should be more careful in a 30 limit and u should have thought more about the financial implications. if you are caught on cam you are caught and thats it but 3 points for speeding is not gunna make a massive difference say like drink driving accident or dangerous driving offence so dont panic too much just dont get any more and learn from it

NICOLA B
no chance, it's a fixed penalty that comes to your address with photos, you can't avoid it.You are lucky though because soon speeding offences carry 6 points, you will only get three, good luck

There should be a lower speed limit for new drivers as they don't have the experience to deal with high speeds!
I think as a new driver 6 points on your licence and you're banned for a year.
Not telling your insurance company is not a good idea. If you were to have an accident and they found out your insurance would be void and you will get into trouble.

Maybe stopping driving till you are older may not be a bad thing - there are speed limits for a reason. If you got caught, there will be no say to avoid points.

Wait til you get the prosecution notice. Some Police forces allow you to avoid the points if you instead pay a fine and attend a speed workshop, which is usually one day long and on a date, time and place of their choosing. Not all forces in the country do this though, so you may just have to take the points and be more careful in future.

Take your punishment like a man, drivers like you are responsible for more deaths on the road than any other. Hopefully if you can't afford to drive until you are older then you may smarten up and get a clue about life.

Here in the states Traffic School is the best option to avoid getting points on your license. I don't know if that is an option where you are.

I did that earlier this year. I also paid a lesser fine for going to traffic school.

"la perte de clown"
i hope they double your points, it will teach you a lesson not to speed, the speed limit is there for a reason.
baby!

WHAT DO POINTS MAKE?!
good drivers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you got stopped - then you are doomed.

If you got caught by a camera - then you will have to find someone very nice to take the rap for you

Solo Man
Why give a crap about the points unless you intend to speed all the time.If you only pay £120.00 for insurance what are you driving a push bike.

I don't know where you are from, but in the U.S. you can go to court and ask the judge to give you a defferred sentence- where you promise not to get any traffic violations for a certain period and the ticket gets dismissed. Not all judges will grant this, but it's worth a try!
