He was perfectly, within his rights ,to have asked you to leave

and if you continued to be abusive ,to eject you ,
with the reasonable (safe) force necessary ,

The Taxi driver ,could of course, have called the police himself ,
.
THEN ,you would have spent the night ,in the police custody

and you would have faced prosecution,
for threatening and obstructive behaviour.

Possibly a hefty fine / certainly a conviction,
for being drunk and disorderly.at best !

You can try claiming for compensation,from the taxi firm .
but i doubt ,you will get very far

The Taxi firm can counter claim , against , your appalling behaviour,
which caused you to be ejected, by the Taxi driver ,in the first place .

Count your lucky stars! you did not get a conviction this time.

Make sure you don't get ,into such a drunken state again ,
while you are out with your friends , You may not be so lucky in future.
have a good meal inside you, before you go out .,

My question is has he the right to forcibly eject me? Yes. Any business has the absolute right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

How would the police view this ? If they had been called and showed up, they would have arrested you for being drunk in public, and possibly for theft of services, assuming you had any bill for service left unpaid at the time you were asked to leave the cab.

Can I claim compensation of the cab firm? Of course. They will refuse of course, and prevail if push comes to shove.

Violence whether one is right or not is not permitted by law. In your case, I think the taxi driver should have driven you to the nearest police station and complain to the police about your unbecoming behaviour.
As for you seeking recourse, I would advise you to just forget about the whole thing since he didn't cause any damages to you. In future you should refrain from abusing the taxi drivers as they really operate under difficult conditions.

Sorry you can't claim compensation, if you provoked him you could have had you head beat to a pulp and would have little to stand on.

I have to say it serves you right, if you can't behave like a decent human being when your drunk, you shouldn't be allowed to drink and if you dare try it you should be locked up for it.

I can control myself when very drunk and always am decent and civil, if I can do it why do other people find it so hard?

It is his taxi, and his place of business. You made yourself persona non grata. You refused to leave of your own accord, so he tossed you. You're lucky he didn't toss you into the river to sober up. You should go apologize to him, and hope you aren't blacklisted for life from all taxis in your town.

Yes he has every right to eject you from his taxi. If you are deemed drunk and abusive or you are sick in his car than he can ask you to get out. However, the method in which he got you out is common assault and you could report this to the police although it would be his word over yours, and as you were drunk you would be viewed as an unreliable witness.

No, he can't use violence against you because his vehicle is considered a public vehicle, unlike bars or restaurants which are private property and probably have more rights.
