The only thing you can do is shop around abit. Don't settle for the first company you check. Really its hard for you to get a good answer here because there are alot of variables when it comes to insurance. Age, married, driving record, student, zip code ect.

your record will follow you around for the next 3 years. there is no way of getting around it. so, if you don't want to pay through the nose, get the bare amount of coverage you need to be legal, that will give you the cheapest rate, (i think collision and uninsured motorist) until it drops off your record (3 years from date of accident) until then, you drive around like a nun of her way to Sunday school. when it drops off, then you get the full featured insurance you need to protect yourself. the only downside is, if you wreck your car (your fault) , you will still owe the bank for the loan. this is the only way to get around paying sky high insurance rates

The police report should have indicated that you were not at fault..(that's why you should always have NO FAULT" insurance). This being said, your insurance company should have paid you for you loss. and on that note.. your rate should have not increased.. How many tickets (of any kind) did you have in the past?

If your insurance went up after an accident, it sounds like you were found to be at fault. If so, you can expect that to follow you for a while.

Perhaps the best way to find the policy that would suit you the best is this: Go to an independent agent, not tied to any one company, and let him search his data base for the best deal for you. If you are getting a new car you will want full coverage, and you might look into GAP insurance if you are financing it. If you are getting used, ask the agents advice as to coverage.

I dont know of any "special" insurance companys.

But i can give advise.

Prolly the best thing to do is call each one. do a search for "cheap car insurance" call each one you find and go with the best priced one.

Geico was pretty cheap but it's different for everyone. Just really research it and ask for quotes. Quotes are good for up to thirty days in some companies giving you ample time to shop around. Good Luck
