Probably. BUT dont give in easily. State your case and maybe they will make an exception. The storage lots are owned by others(other than law enforcement agency) in most cases. Good luck

If I'm reading it correctly, you were behind on insurance, and when you did pay, he agent didn't mark it as paid, and as a result your license was suspended. Then you were stopped for not keeping your vehicle in good operating shape and running with burned out lights, they found your suspended license and towed your car.

So now, because of a 'mistake' your agent may have done, you want to screw the towing company out of the fees to tow and store your vehicle. Is that right?

And I suppose if K-Mart gave you the wrong change, you'd go to Wal-Mart and demand a refund too?

Bottom line, yes, you have to pay to get your car out, and the longer you leave it there the higher your bill will be. If you want to ask the agent to make you whole since it was their mistake, feel free.

Yes. You never have your license suspended without your knowledge. The DMV will send you about 100 letters telling you that you have until such date to show proof of insurance before your license is suspended. Everyone says "I didn't know" but in reality, how could you not know? In most cases, if you can show proof of insurance back to 10-08 the court will waive any fines or fees due. Good luck

Soory to hear about that, my sister got pulled over and her car towed because she didnt know her liscence was suspened because she didnt get the notice because she didnt change her address with the dmv. i know it costs allot. i got pulled over for speeding "a little" and I got my car towed because I didnt have ins. The whole ordeal costed me about a grand. i guess you could say I learned my lesson.

On an unrelated incident my sister sold her car to some guy in her neighborhood. She didnt notify the DMV that she had sold the vehicle and he didnt get the title changed to his name, so when the guy she sold it too got it impounded she was held responsible for the impound fees which totaled about 1300.00 dollars! She had to use her christams savings to pay for it. Those towing companies are scandalous if you ask me. I mean they knew the whole situation but they know that legally they can get the monies from my sister so thats what they do. Thats not the only instance of scandalous towing lots so im not just talking smack I know how some of them operate.

How exactly was your suspended license a mistake? It wasn't. You were notified, even if you didn't read the letter. It's YOUR responsibility to keep up with tickets, child support, accidents, insurance - whatever the suspension reason was.

If your insurance LAPSED, and you had ONE DAY without coverage, then they were in the right. But usually you have to go over 30 days to get your license suspended, unless you're in NY, which allows THREE days.

Yes, you'll have to pay to get your car out of the impound lot. They didn't mess up. You can ask your insurance agent to pick up the tab, but likely THEY didn't mess up, either.
