You should be OK if you are keeping a permanent address where you are now. Google the department of transportation of the state where you're moving. You should be able to find the requirements. But cops can't pull over every out of state license plate they see, so it's unlikely anyone would challenge you on this. And I don't think most places give you a hard time about it---they'd just tell you to go change it over.

not really. if it's longer than 60 days then LEGALLY you are supposed to change them. however if you keep your llicense, tags, inspections up to date then it won't really matter. I moved from PA to DC and that was 7 months ago. haven't changed the tags yet and this is a permanent move. besides, changing over your stuff is a monsterous headache and a pain on your wallet. just keep everything current and you'll be fine.

Well when I moved to Florida I didn't switch my plates for 10 months, and that is because they expired. I wouldn't waste the time or money. Most states will tell you that you have too! The most important thing is to make sure you are covered with auto insurance.

If you are in an area over 30 days, you are considered a resident of that area. That is what the law says in most states. Especially if you are employed.

I was in the same boat so to speak here a few weeks back. I had an old truck that had been sitting up for several months and I went and got a tag and insurance on it. It was originally registered in Florida and I have recently moved up to Georgia for a few months. When I went and got the insurance, I had to sign a paper that said I wouldn't be out of state (Florida) for no more than 10 months, so I would think this would apply in your case also. As long as you have valid insurance and valid tag, you should be OK. No law enforcement agency should force you to have to re-register all of this for a short term. At least this is the way the Florida insurance companies look at it.....you could call your insurance agent to make sure. Better to be safe than sorry. Hope this helps.

Leave as it is. My friend lives 6 months in New Jersey and 6 months in Florida. She keeps her Florida license and Florida license plate when she is in New Jersey. When cops ask were she lives she says her home base is Florida.

Depends upon the state, but normally you should be fine as long as you do not establish residency.
