I bought a new car less than two weeks ago. It's a Toyota Camry Le 2009.
Today, I parked my car in my driveway around 4:30, next to my house, the same spot it's been parked since I've had it. I went inside. Around 6 something, I heard this loud thump from my room. I thought nothing of it.
I walked outside around 8 because I needed to go to the store. I walk over to my car and I got in and started to back up until I heard this noise that seem like I was running over something. I parked the car and went to look at the front car. In front of the car was a whole bunch chunks of solid ice. They varied in size and was everywhere. I realized that they might of hit the car. Sure enough, there was a big dent on the hood, the metal next to the rear view mirror on driver's side, the rear mirror was messed up, and there was a dent near the driver side of the door.
It says that in my coverage, the comprehensive(does nature fall under this?) deductible is $200. I'm not sure what to do. Would this be covered under my insurance and how much?

It will be covered by your Autos' comprehensive insurance. Pete is wrong. Most, if not all auto insurance companies do not apply a surcharge (raise your rates) for a comprehensive claim. |

Yep, comprehensive covers damage by falling objects - including icicles. That deductible would apply. You can file a claim - but you'd best park some other spot, as if you keep filing these claims for ice damage, you're going to get cancelled. |

Yes, your comprehensive covers this kind of damage. However, if you think the repairs are not a lot more than your $200 deductible, don't file a claim because it will only result in your rates being increased. Just pay for it yourself. |
