You can be sued. Your insurance company might help defend you in the event of a lawsuit, but if you don't have high enough liability coverages for the at fault loss, your wages could be garnished, you could loose your house, or they could take any assets you may have if the person wins the lawsuit, and you have no money or not high enough coverages for the amount the person would win.
This is the reason why I NEVER recommend State liability minimum coverages because in the event of a loss, it might not be enough coverage to REALLY protect you in the event of a lawsuit.

Foxychic is dead right on this. Minimum limits are a joke in most states; read enough wailing and moaning on this forum from people who had minimums and found that out. |
