According to insurance companies in MI, I'm a "high risk driver." My lease on my mustang is up in a couple months so instead of leasing another car I'm going to drive my fathers benz that he hardly ever drives. He has insurance on the benz, but It's not under my name (its under his name). If I drive his car do I need to call my insurance company and add my name to it?
I heard that if you have insurance on a car that anyone who drives it is covered as long as it is being insured. Is this true? I live in Michigan if that helps...

ya you can drive it, because Car Insurance insures the car, it doesn't matter who drives it, but if you do get into an accident, they'll raise his insurance sky high |

YES YES YES. abd NO NO NO.sorry, but it's misrepresentation-that's a nice way to say fraud- if you allow someone to drive but don't tell the company. they insure based on the risk of who is behind the wheel. don't open the door for a claim to be denied! even an occasiona;l driver-drives less than 2 times a year!-should be reported. |
