If I have full insurance on my car, am I covered if I drive a car that does not have insurance?

you probably will be covered under your own auto policy;

most policies state that coverage will extend to other vehicles if your "insured auto" is down for servicing or repairs.

in your case, your car has broken down, so you will be having repairs so that your car will be operational;

but; if you are in an accident, you better have proof that your car was down and that you were in process of getting it drivable; also; since you live in GA and your friend in FL, could pose some problems with wording in policies in the 2 states;

my suggestion is to call your insurance agent if you have one or the insurance company and pose this question; if they stated could be denied, i suggest you rent a car instead;

It all depends on your insurance carrier your best bet is to check with your insurance carrier. I know for a fact that 21st century will cover you ( i have this insurance carrier and that is in my policy) As far as getting pulled over you should be ok by showing your insurance card even if it is for a different car.

There are a lot of issues here. First of all, different states have different laws. Because the car is registered in Florida (I'm assuming), there might be a problem if there is an accident in Georgia and there are conflicting laws.

Call your Insurance company first and ask them the question, they should be able to tell you since they hold the policy.

most owners policies cover you when you drive another persons car....their policy should cover anyone driving their car.......check it out to be sure.......good luck

No Insurance is only covering the car not the person. I got in to a wreck with a friends car before and my insurance had nothing to do with it. His went up and his covered it.

Depends on the Insurance Co. I know that my insurance comp will not cover someone elses car if I drive it and they dont have insurance.

Also, my insurance will not cover someone who drives my vehicle (who does not have their own insurance) and wrecks my vehicle. I guess its a ploy for more people to provide their own insurance.
So, my husband and I are very strict about letting others drive our truck. If they dont have insurance, they dont drive, very simple!

You should not drive a car that you know does not have insurance. It depends on your insurance company. You need to read your policy or call your insurance company and ask. My insurance covers any car that I drive or any insured person that I let drive mine. Be careful.

no your insurence covers you in your car only.. yoour friends insurence will only cover you if he has that options to cover other people if he has cheap insurance most likely you are not covered... if the car is registered and has its own insurence you should be safe if you get pulled over.
