by law you are legally allowed...it doesn't matter about ''not displaying'' because you are coverd.

look,these days Joe blogs can find out if any car is taxed in 3 seconds online....police use ANPR cameras,these tell the police your taxed,insured,licenced,mot'd.....
you will NOT get finned for not displaying a tax disc..that is from a policeman's mouth

YES U CAN....uk,at one time police would issue you a ticket for not displaying a tax disc.reason was that in the eyes of the law if you car isn't displaying a tax disc then it isn't taxed...this no longer applies..this was before the introduction of the ANPR system..any police officer can find out with in 20 seconds if a car is taxed....this came from a police mans mouth as he checked online if my car was taxed,i did it the night before so legally i was covered..

Print off your receipt, and keep it on the dash board. worked for me. The police scanner will show that you have paid when/if it scans your reg plate. |

Yes providing it is taxed for the period you are going to drive it. I)f you have asked for the tax to start 1st Jan then obviously you can't drive it till then |

There has been a recent change in the law on this. Presuming you applied in time, i.e. on or before the expiry date of the current tax or SORN, you now have 5 working days grace specifically to allow for the arrival of a tax disk bought on line. There is no grace period if it wasn't bought in time. |

You would still be 'failing to display a cuuent tax disc'.
You must wait until you have the disc. Best way is to renew at a post office. |

This situation does not arise if you renew you tax disc before the old one expires. It is an offence not to have a current tax disc on display if the vehicle is on the road. |
