I answered your other question. You cannot steal your own car. Even though you're not the legal owner of the vehicle because you don't hold title, you're still on the loan paperwork. But what you're committing is still a crime. Better turn the car in. You won't be able to get it registered once the renewal is up and you can't drive an un-registered vehicle |

I've heard that if you're sitting in the car it cannot be towed. I know this is true for Britain, not sure about the US. |

If you still have it, then it is not in repossession.
If you are behind on your payments and they are trying to repossess it, the lienholder has to go through court to have the car reported as stolen. Most courts will not do this though, but I have heard of some that have done it. |

It's still yours until the repo collectors have actually come and repo'd the vehicle so you no longer have it. |
