My car is to be written off by the insurance company will my contract with the insurance still be on-going and will they still charge me even if I dont have the car?

I assume you pay monthly, in which case, yes, your premiums will still need to be paid.
Your insurance premium is payable annually in advance, but your insurer has financed this premium & allowed you to pay it over a period of months.
Even if you'd crashed your car on the first day of your policy, the whole premium would still be payable. |

the car should be removed from the policy-by you-the day AFTER the accident. (so it's covered) If it's the only vehicle, the policy will cancel, and if you paid in full, a refund will be due to you,, If you financed it-if you pay monthly- you may still owe a bit, for time you were actually insured, or they may owe you(if you paid for more days than you were covered for). If you are going to get another car within a week, don't delete the first one til you add the second, if you want the policy to continue. the claim usually will NOT cause the car to be automaticlly deleted. |

The policy is in force until it is canceled, either by you or the insurer. If you are renting a vehicle you'll want to keep the policy in force until the company pays the claim (coverages from your policy will cover the temporary substitute vehicle). |
