larger tail pipe on the exhaust.
surely 3rd party , fire and theft insures the other car in event of an accident, any damage to my car would be paid for by me.

The simple answer is if you are not sure, discuss it with your insurance company. Chances are a mod like that will have little or no effect on your premium - but do you want to run the risk of not being insured if you have an accident?
All policies demand that you should inform them of any modifications to the car - if you fail to do so, you may be uninsured. It's all very well for people to suggest you con them by removing the items if you have an accident, but what if you are knocked out and can't?
If you are uninsured in an accident, you could pay for the damages for countless years to come or even finish up in prison. Is it really worth the risk for such a small item? I don't think so. |

a larger tail pipe will make no difference to your insurance basically it is a cosmetic modification nothing else |

yes it should go up cos any modifications you get done to your car can put your insures Permian up,but if you try and con the insurance company by taking it off if you have a crash ,remember one thing any sort of car crash the question ppl who saw it happen and someone will see you doing that and prob will put it in there statement they give, then the insurance will prob try and trip you up by asking you about it and if you say i did not do that ,you prob will get done for insurance fraud then not many insurance company's will touch you after that ,and the cost of it then bend over for them cos they are about to feck you over big time |

Tell your Insurance company what you have done, they have many years experience dealing with modified cars and will realise something that has escaped you, putting a large bore exhaust pipe onto your car will actually decrease the power whilst increasing the noise ie: it's slower and safer! |

It will if you inform the insurance company with the extras you have made and add to your vehicle, hence your insurance will go up, if you don't inform the insurance then if God forbid the vehicle got stolen you wont be able to claim what is worth the modification you've made. |

They would assume that modifications would make the car different to the strict manufacturer's design making the car possibly less safe.
It depends on the changes, but changes to the suspension/perfomance etc could mean the car handles differently making it more loikely to be involved in an accident pushing up your risk. |

Probably - most insurers will raise the cost - even simply down to a minor mod like this. |

I had modifications on my last car which i didn't declare on my insurance. my car got crashed into (not my fault!!) and i just took off the modifications before the insurance people saw.
on my latest car, i have declared that it has got a different exhaust on, and this has not made my insurance go up. they just said that its not covered.
so if you want it covered then I'm guessing that it will make it go up. wouldn't have thought by a lot tho! |
