Yeah, so long as you've paid something over, you should be able to download and print off a policy.

Yes you can, the minute the insurance is paid for you are insured, so yes you can, as long as you have got tax and a valid licence you are perfectly legal.

As long as you have paid and have valid insurance in place you can drive. However, you must read the Terms and Conditions for the policy to confirm that it is valid prior to issue of the cover. In most cases it will be okay especially if its a renewal. If a new policy as long as you have filled in the details honestly and correctly it will be okay too. Cover Notes are being used less these days but still issued a lot by brokers. The most important thing is the Certificate of Insurance. You do not need to carry a document with you these days as the police have a direct link to all the insurance companies computers and DVLA so can tell from your Registration No if you are covered or not

In the UK you are strongly recommended not to carry your paperwork around with you, in order to make things more difficult for a thief. That is why, if you are asked to produce your documents by police, you are allowed to present them at a chosen police station within a set time. In the meantime, if the police wish to know if you're insured they can check directly.

Once the insurance company have confirmed that you are accepted (and you have paid) you are good to go. I'd print off their confirmation of acceptance to remind you of the details until it comes through the post.

Yes aslong as your covered from the date and time stated its fine, i never carry my details with my, its all stored on a computer anyhow so if you get stopped the police can do checks and you will be sorted.

U should receive an e.mail acknowledgement
from the insurer confirming that cover is in force
from ....../...../2009

PRINT off and present to police as confirmation

Policy docs will arrive within days, in any event

I'm with Direct Line, so know THEIR procedure

In the UK you CAN drive even if you do not have a piece of paper in your hand to prove it.
It used to be a problem if the cops gave you a producer as then you'd have to get it to produce it.
But even if you didn't get it on time you'd go to court (for no insurance) and then you did bring your paper and the case would be dismissed at some 5 grand cost to the taxpayer.
Nowadays they'll enter your plate into their thingy and they'll know instantly, so you won't even get a producer.
Unless the cop hates you of course.

yes,yes you can...once you pay and are insured, your legal to drive...police ANPR cameras pick up you reg and check it with the midas daterbase[insurance] and it comes up insured....

Depends which country you are in!

Look at it this way. I know the answer, and you know which country you are in. So.

I'll guess which country you are in, and you can guess the answer!

No, you need a proper cover note. Ring the insurance company and ask - I'm not sure if they'd even email one... more likely they'd post it.

Not legally no.

OK you 5 "thumbs down" twits - it is an offence to take a vehicle on the road in the UK without evidence of cover in accordance with the Road Traffic Act. You do not actually have the Cover Note in the car with you but you (or to quote the act - your legally appointed agent) must hold it. And the police have the right to demand to see it.

So you may NOT legally drive a car without having received the Cover Note. Of course I've only been in insurance for 35 years so maybe you pentagogue of plonkers know better than me?
