I have USAA insurance, and remember in a college BLAW class the proffessor talked about insurance companies suing the city for roadhazard neglagence. is this true?

No they don't have to pay for it. But if you or your insurance Co. wants to take the time and effort to sue them and if the judge actually allows a case to go thru, cause lots of states and commonwealths can not be sued for usual and customary wear and tear created by forces of nature (freezing and thawing), then go ahead

As far as my city is considered, the city is responsible only if the pothole was reported prior to the collision.

if you have USAA why dont you call them, they are open 24/7 and "more then happy to help the military or military family member"
